Jackson Niemann has been a member of the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute since he was in 7th grade. Throughout his time in the program, he has participated in a variety of competitions and challenges which allowed him to explore a variety of fields while developing leadership and collaboration skills.

Within STEM, Jackson enjoys working on hands-on engineering projects and is passionate about using STEM education to inspire younger students. Through his pay it forward project, SLAM, he teaches weekly STEM lessons to elementary school students, helping them explore creativity, teamwork, and problem solving through interactive activities.

Outside of STEM, Jackson is an Eagle Scout and plays the violin in his school orchestra. Through scouting, orchestra, and community service, he has worked to develop leadership and communication skills which continue to shape his interests and future goals. In the future, Jackson hopes to pursue a career in engineering where he can use his skills to make a positive impact in his community.

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, ASML, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
