Isabel has been part of the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute for six years, where she developed an interest in applying computer science to real-world problems, particularly at the intersection of machine learning and biology. She plans to major in computer science and engineering at UCLA.

She has participated in FIRST Tech Challenge as a member of Team Codo Dragons for three years and has also competed in the Synopsys Science Fair, Project Pay-It-Forward, and Project Invent. Through these experiences, Isabel has worked on projects involving machine learning in biological and medical contexts, while building technical skills in programming and data analysis. She has also contributed to outreach efforts that bring STEM activities to different communities.

Outside of academics, Isabel was a member of her school’s badminton team for four years. In her free time, she enjoys painting, hiking, and spending time with friends.

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, ASML, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
