Over the past six years, Sara has been a dedicated member of the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute. Within the program, she has worked on a variety of projects such as Project Invent, FTC, and Full STEAM Ahead, a website meant to serve SCHS students in whatever they need to succeed. Sara is grateful for how this six year experience has ultimately allowed her to grow as a team member, risk taker, and leader.

Outside of SLI, Sara has taken on a variety of leadership roles, ranging from being the Director of Graphic Design for her school’s music program to being the flute section leader for the marching band. In her free time, she enjoys doodling in her sketchbook, making her own jewelry, and spending time with her loved ones.

Through diverse types of design, Sara is dedicated to giving back to her community and connecting with others. As an aspiring designer, she aims to use the skills she’s learned thus far to further develop her creativity and leadership. Sara looks forward to building her future and community for the next four years at the University of California, Irvine.

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, ASML, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
