Laasya has been a member of the Stem Leadership Institute for the past six years. As a member, she has challenged herself in various STEM-related fields through Science Fair, Tech Challenge, FTC, and many other competitions and projects. Outside of the program, Laasya is an active Indian classical dancer and singer, as well as an avid volunteer at El Camino Hospital and UCSF Family House. Throughout her high school career, she has contributed over 400 volunteer hours to the community and has published a peer-reviewed article based on her independent research into glioma brain tumors. She is also an avid tennis fan and was the captain of the tennis team in her senior year of high school.

Laasya will be attending UC Berkeley in the fall for bioengineering and hopefully a minor in political science!

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, ASML, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
