Sharvil K.

Curious, Observant, Creative

"Confine yourself to observing and you always miss the point of your own life. The object can be stated this way: Live the best life you can. Life is a game whose rules you learn if you leap into it and play it to the hilt."
- Frank Herbert

Sharvil Kulkarni has been a part of the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute since 7th grade, and over the past six years has learned how to turn abstract ideas and concepts into real-world benefit. He has utilized the knowledge acquired from this program in the FIRST Robotics Challenge, and in work on startups and volunteer museum work. He has worked on projects in the fields of inverse kinematics, computer vision, and ultrasonic weable technology throughout his time with SLI.

Sharvil spends most of his free time at the Moffett Field Museum, working with veterans to maintain exhibits and machinery, as well as helping with accounting and event management. He also does math tutoring and has experience with helping younger students with SAT prep.

Outside of academics, Sharvil likes to play Kerbal Space Program, which is how he discovered his passion for aerospace engineering. HIs future aspiration is to work on space technology and to make space projects more sustainable.

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, ASML, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
