Over the past six years, the SLI program has profoundly transformed Avik, equipping him with the skills necessary to become the person he aspires to be.Throughout high school, Avik has, among other things, been involved in a variety of research pursuits, gaining hands-on experience across multiple research labs and contributing to work that has reached publication. Avik has also been a dedicated member of FTC Robotics for the past four years, serving as a founding member of Team Cododragons #13217.

Avik derives great enjoyment from reading non-fiction, playing badminton, traveling, and building new things. He is also, by his own account, an awesome older brother. He hopes to further develop his interests in college while discovering new ones along the way.

In the future, Avik hopes to pursue a career in aerospace research and be on the front lines of developing the future of sustainable aviation technology.

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, ASML, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
